A New Sailing School for Kids 8-16 Launched This Summer at Four Seasons Resort and Residences Los Cabos at Costa Palmas

Sailing School for Kids 8-16

This summer, the Costa Palmas Yacht Club will debut a junior sailing school for children ages 8-16. Open to resort guests and Costa Palmas residents, the sailing school offers group and private classes, as well as clinics, for all experience levels.

Lessons will start directly from the beach. Kids will learn to sail the RS Tera—a boat used from entry-level sailing to international competition. They will be guided by instructor Paula Velasquez, a former national team sailor from Colombia.

Introductory classes lay a solid foundation in sailing terminology and principles. They also cover the boat’s various parts. Intermediate classes include a skill assessment and cover wind prediction, trim adjustments, rigging, roll tacking, gybing, and centerboard usage. Finally, advanced classes broaden the overall sailing education, focusing on racing methods and tactics.
