Jumby Bay Hawksbill Sea Turtles Project
For instance, did you know that Pasture Beach, located on the North side of Jumby Bay Island, serves as a crucial nesting ground for the critically endangered Hawksbill Sea Turtle?
These magnificent creatures return to their shores every year from June to November to lay their eggs.
Since 1987, the Jumby Bay Hawksbill Project has been at the forefront of this conservation effort, hosting a team of passionate researchers who meticulously observe and track the turtles’ annual journey.
Through their dedicated work, they gain valuable insights into the turtles’ movements, population dynamics, and remarkable resilience. These findings are instrumental in shaping effective habitat management strategies and scientifically grounded policies that safeguard this incredible species.
